El sol sale para todas
"El sol sale para todas" is a Colombian telenovela produced by Colombiana de Televisión under the leadership of Claudia Rojas and Malcolm Aponte. The telenovela portrays the process of reconciliation that the country is going through from the point of view of women who have been victims of the violence of the internal armed conflict in Colombia. Having "a clear message of peace, reconciliation and a possible Colombia" (Aponte, 2017, as cited in RTVC,2017), the telenovela starts 31 October 2016 on Canal Uno/ Radio y Televisión Nacional de Colombia (RTVC). Based on fictionalized real facts, the scriptwriters of "El sol sale para todas", relied on news compilations of the date and testimonies of the report "La verdad de las Mujeres de Ruta Pacífica de las Mujeres", a project of Comisión de la Verdad y Memoria de Mujeres.
Through 30 chapters, the soap opera tells the stories of several women victims of the internal armed conflict that Colombia has been experiencing for many years. The plot of each story is told in two chapters, which narrate the violence against women and the consequences in their lives and families. As well as the struggle they face in the search for peace, as well as the reconciliation process, they go through with their counterparts, who have in some way influenced in the violence suffered by our protagonists. In this way, it shows the importance of forgiveness in the process of reconciliation that the country is going through.
Furthermore, the telenovela shows the testimonies of the women who face the situation to be dealt with. Above all, their growth, their fight, and effort to reweave their lives, their family, community, and collective ties, as well as with other women to improve social life. Many of the cases dealt with in the novel involve situations of forced disappearances, displacement, physical, psychological, and sexual violence, kidnappings, among others.
The telenovela can currently be viewed on Canal Uno's YouTube channel. Even though it has not had a huge impact on social media, the feedback found is in line with viewers who highlight the positive and realistic stance of the telenovela. Indeed, the telenovela seeks to show real stories and testimonies of survivors who, outraged by injustice and violence, seek to contribute to peace and reconciliation in the country through their efforts and help for other women.
